Common questions
Straight answers to what South African SME owners ask before they book a call with Yuvati.
How quickly can you deliver a working system?
Most focused projects are live in 2–4 weeks. BI dashboards and single-process automations are typically delivered in 2–3 weeks from scoping sign-off. Custom web applications take 4–8 weeks for focused tools, 3–6 months for complex multi-user systems. You see working software throughout — not a big reveal at the end.
How much does it cost?
Every project is priced on scope and complexity — there is no one-size-fits-all number. The main factors are how many data sources or systems need to connect, how much custom logic is involved, whether the project replaces an existing system or builds something new, and how quickly you need it delivered. A single focused automation costs a fraction of what a full custom web application does. All projects are fixed-price scoped before work begins — no open-ended retainers and no surprises. We talk through your budget on the discovery call and only move forward once both sides are comfortable with the number.
Do I need to replace my existing accounting software?
No. Yuvati connects to your existing tools — Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, Pastel, Excel, Google Sheets — and builds on top of them. We have never asked a client to change their accounting package. If your system has an export or an API, we can connect to it.
What does POPIA mean for my legacy system?
Legacy desktop systems — particularly VB6, MS Access, and older Pastel installations — typically store personal information without access controls, audit logs, or the ability to respond to data subject requests. POPIA requires all three. A modernisation project includes a POPIA compliance review and implements the required controls in the new system as part of the build.
Can you replace a legacy desktop application without stopping our operations?
Yes — this is our standard approach. We build the replacement alongside your existing system, deliver it in phases, and run both in parallel until you're confident. There is always a rollback plan, and the old system stays available as a safety net for at least 30 days after cutover. We have never left a client without a functioning system during a migration.
Do you work with companies outside Cape Town?
Yes. Yuvati is based in Cape Town but works with SMEs across South Africa — Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, and beyond. All engagement is done remotely via video call and collaborative tools. Geography has never been a constraint for any of our projects.
